The topic in the classroom this week was about how animals survive the cold weather in the winter. We learned that some animals hibernate or take a long snooze during the winter. Other animals migrate, or move to warmer places. Then, there are some animals that adapt, they have figured out ways to stay where it is cold and survive. Ask your child for some examples, we have read many great books about the subject! Our art table was a busy place, like usual. We assembled snowmen for our January portfolio page. Finger-painted paper to use to make our trees, and burrows for our "where do animals spend the winter" wall and used water colors to paint the animals. We of course also had lots of fun with our sparkly snow-dough this week! After reading the book The Mitten, the children acted out the story. They had so much fun pretending to be the different animals crawling into the mitten to get out of the cold! We finally got to play outside in the snow!! Yay!! Look at how much fun we all had!
